Daniel Robinson Ford Art
I have been painting for about ten years. I am driven by the process of painting and how and where it sits amongst so many varied forms of art in the twenty first century. We are surrounded by illuminated high definition images. I still firmly believe that the strongest way to convey an image is by painting; through physically producing a mark or a line, a multitude of conflicting shapes which combined produce a deliberate illusion. The narrative behind my work changes constantly and could only really be explained as maybe, curiosity. At present I find myself fascinated by body language; the way in which we interact, subtle gestures we use to signify affection, interest, or an awareness that we are being watched. Most of my work relies heavily on photos, normally a series help act as preparation. Whilst the camera is pivotal to the early stages of my work, its presence has the potential to destroy any natural body language, replacing it with the absolute opposite. It is that reaction that I am presently more and more intrigued by. The way we react with each other and how as a painter I reflect upon that.
